Adopt a Corgi

We do in state adoptions only.  We find that we can be more supportive of our dogs and adopters if they remain in the state of Florida.

We often have many lovely dogs  looking for a new family to call their own.  We love our dogs and are most particular about matching each dog with a family who is most able to provide for their needs.  To accomplish this we use the application process.  We do request references of people known to our prospective adopters who are familiar with their love for dogs.  We ask for a veterinary reference to help assure that our adopters are familiar with the necessary medical care a dog needs.  We arrange a home visit with one of our volunteers to give people the opportunity to ask any questions about our enchanted breed.  We also get a good idea of the family dynamics to help assist us in finding just the right corgi to add to the adoptive family.

All dogs are spayed/neutered, current on vaccinations, heartworm tested and microchipped prior to placement.  Any obvious medical problems will be addressed while in foster care.  Any medical history we receive on a dog will be shared with their prospective adopters.  Strays and shelter dogs generally have no documented history.  All dogs are evaluated for general temperament prior to placement.  Sunshine Corgi Rescue will disclose any and all health information known about each dog prior to placement.

We do post pictures and share a short bio of most of our available dogs.  We will gladly share information about any dog that appears on our site however adoptions are based on the characteristics of the dog and the potential adoptive family.  Our dogs may be located anywhere in the state of Florida.  Most often the potential adoptive family must make arrangements with the foster families to meet our dogs.

The dogs in our program vary greatly in age, activity levels, personal needs and temperaments.  All will need a certain amount of transition time and training to settle well into their new homes.  Our volunteers are available for consult at any time to help with each dog’s transition into their new home.

Each adoption has a two week trial period with their dog.  If for any reason this appears not to be a suitable match the dog may be returned to our program.  Adoption fees are held for a period not less then two weeks for this trial period.

Adoption fees range up to $300.00 for our young dogs with no special needs.  Adoption fees are reduced for our senior and special needs dogs.
